AACA National Charlotte - Judging Registration

About this event

Antique Automobile Club of America - Charlotte
AMCA Judging Friday evening at 5:00 pm
AACA Judging Saturday morning at 11:00 am

This AACA event is in conjunction with the AACA's Hornets Nest Region's Charlotte Spring AutoFair. A huge swap meet on the infield of Charlotte Motor Speedway. The AACA/AMCA Judging takes place in the FanZone outside of Turn 2. This is an AMCA National judging sanctioned event.

AACA has invited AMCA members to expand their judging experience at selected Nationals. The long range plan is to offer AMCA judging in areas of the country where AMCA Nationals do not exist.

AACA and AMCA are similar in their judging. AACA uses a 400-point maximum but that really is of no consequence. The difference lies in that a motorcycle (or car) must not only attain the minimum required score for a given award (365 points for 1st Junior) but must also be within 10 points of the highest scoring vehicle in the class. So, if someone shows up with a 399-point trailer queen, everyone else would need to score 389 points or above to get a 1st Junior.

AMCA will use our own judging criteria for our Friday AMCA Judging, but AACA rules will apply for AACA Saturday judging.

A couple of other AACA rules will apply for both days. 1) A small fire extinguisher is required to next to each motorcycle. 2) No signage with the vehicle unless it's an approved show sign purchased through AACA.

AMCA Awards will be presented during the AACA Awards Ceremony Saturday at 5:00 pm. At this event, the awards are presented on the show field in the large tent. No ticket required. However there is a picnic dinner following the awards which does require a ticket.

Normally the AACA Banquets attire is dress casual to full dress, but since this awards ceremony is outside on the judging field, wear whatever you want, but we are trying to make an impression on the big boys, so please wear a Polo or button shirt, no T-shirts. Feel like being funky and wear your bright colors or Hawaiian shirt, go for it!

Once each AMCA member registers here for the AMCA Judging, We will turn in the list to AACA. For those who are not AACA members already, AACA will comp AMCA members a free AACA membership for 2025.

AMCA National Judging will be for all motorcycles 35+ years old. Pre-registration IS REQUIRED - No Acception, Sorry!

Prior to the event, we will give you details as to where to park and where to find the AMCA judging field on Friday.

AACA Membership is required for AACA judging. So, AACA has been kind enough to offer AMCA members a free membership for 2025. Make sure to indicate if you are an existing AACA member.

On March 8th, we will turn in our list of participants to AACA. They will in turn complete the AACA memberships for those who are not members and then send an email to each participants with a link to register for AACA Judging.

When you log in to register for AACA Charlotte, you will see a menu of options. At the very least, you will check "Vehicle Registration" to register for AACA judging on Saturday. If you want to stay for the Picnic "Dinner" following the awards ceremony, you will need to purchase a ticket.

Disregard the "Show Car Trailer" parking fee. AACA's Hornets Nest Region will provide a special AMCA parking lot for us.

The Charlotte AutoFair is free to the public. But, if you are bringing a motorhome, there is a fee.

You will need to know your motorcycle classification prior to registering. Here is a link to the AACA Judging Guidelines, but you will have to log in to the AACA website to view it.

Q & A

Q: Does my motorcycle have to crank and run?

A: Yes for both AMCA and AACA, except AMCA Winners Circle. By the AACA book, all entries are required to drive onto the field. In our case, they are making an exception and allowing us to simply crank the bikes for inspection prior to placing it on the judging field. AMCA WC rules do not apply on Saturday. All bikes must run.

Q: Do I have to be at the event on Thursday?

A: No, we are assuming that all AMCA members who participate will enter the Friday AMCA judging and the Saturday AACA judging, but both are not required. Anyone can show up on Thursday for Registration Pick-up between 10 AM - 3 PM. Friday, Registration Pick-up for both AMCA and AACA will be from 10 AM - 4 PM. AACA Saturday Registration Pick-up will be from 7 AM - 11 AM.
