This week, the old bike world lost one of its shining stars. Kent Thompson of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire passed away from injuries related to an accident while working on his bus.
AMCA members and family are looking to raise funds to help a beloved friend's family after the recent accident. Kent, a lover of vintage cars and motorcycles, was working under his old school bus he used for swap meets when it took off and left him with head trauma, a broken pelvis, broken ribs, a broken arm, leg, and hand. Sunday night, he succumbed to those injuries. All funds raised will help his wife pay for medical bills, and household bills following her husband's loss.
As background, when you think of Kent Thompson, you think pre-WWII Indian motorcycle parts; with a specialty for Indian 101 Scouts -- although he also was into Hendersons and Harley-Davidsons. For over forty years, from his small shop in Fitzwilliam New Hampshire, Kent Thompson has been generously helping guys with parts, knowledge, and his time. He came from an old school way of doing business by simply
taking orders by phone and paper mail. Every order is a simple handshake, where he sent you the part first, and if you like it, you either sent payment or return the item. Plus, Kent included a guarantee that all unused parts can be returned at full-price in the future. As a long-time AMCA member, Kent's level of attention to details, breadth of knowledge, and positive attitude towards helping other motorcycle enthusiasts are qualities found in few, and admired by all. He will be sorely missed.
