The AMCA Driftless Chapter, established in 2016, welcomes you to the Driftless Region. The Driftless area with its beautiful scenery is a motorcyclist paradise. Rugged landscape and windy roads with little traffic make it a wonderful location to enjoy antique and vintage bikes as well.
The Driftless area has a rich wonderful history including the famous Wisconsin Badger motto that traces its roots to lead miners in the Southwestern area of the state. Unglaciated during the last ice age, the rugged hills were left as they were. Many Natives and Europeans settled in the area for its vast wealth of resources, such as fishing, hunting and availability of wild plants.
Current land use primarily remains agricultural and lumber based including increased local wine grape production. The area also was once a large producer of tobacco. The Driftless is one of the largest organic production areas in the country right after California with small organic family farms dotting the countryside.
With those hills remaining intact our roads offer some of the best riding in the midwest and nation. From deep valleys to ridge tops the back roads are spectacular.
The Driftless area is abundant in wildlife as the Mississippi is a major flyway for migrating waterfowl. Bald eagles are numerous in our area as well as deer, badgers and bears. The area streams are spring fed and contain abundant multiple cold water species of trout.
We are proud of showcasing this wonderful area for you. We hope you enjoy our region and we look forward to riding with you!
