In 1936, in the midst of the Great Depression, H-D introduced a new engine to
their product line. The 60 cubic inch pushrod actuated overhead valve V-twin
became Harley Davidson’s top-of-the-line model. Additional refinements
included a fully enclosed valvetrain and a recirculating oil system in the
company’s quest to build product reliability.
Join us as we celebrate 90 years of the Knucklehead from 1936 to 1947, father
to the Panhead (1948-1965), grandfather to the Shovelhead (1966-1985) and
Knucklehead’s great grandson the EVO (1984-2000).
