Virtual Judging for Dixon

Dear AMCA Potential Judging entrant,

Virtual Judging 2021

Note: This version of Virtual Judging is solely for the purpose of judging motorcycle ONLY when an event has been cancelled. This is in no way replacing live, in person judging at meets.

As you know, many of our national meets have been suspended due to the pandemic crisis. We are however attempting to continue the judging portion of national meets as an ongoing activity. You may have read about the Virtual Judging (VJ) process in the magazine. The results of the last years VJ activity has been an extremely positive and encouraging experience for both the owners and marque specialist judges.  Having said that, we are planning on continuing the VJ process for the several of the canceled National Meets this year.

As such, we are reaching out to all members to determine if it might be possible for us to virtually judge your bike.  We are offering to judge Junior Second, Junior First, and Senior status motorcycles in the effected National Meets first. We will take the first 25 Entries on a First-Come, First-Served basis and also extend the invitation to new entries.

You, a family member, or friend would be the “cinema photographer” using a smart phone or tablet, sending the live streaming audio and video images of your bike to an AMCA Judging Team, with direction from the team members.

In order to do this, we need to establish a video link between you and our judges. We have been using an application with a high degree of success, called Zoom.  We will need to determine if you have a smart device such as a smart phone or a tablet and are connected to the internet, preferably via a wireless environment. This will allow you to stream live video of your motorcycle to Marque Specialists who also will be online using the Zoom platform on their computers in their homes. If you can support using zoom, then we would schedule a pre-judging test and training session with you to ensure that all is working well to move forward, schedule and conduct the actual judging.

Tech Tip: Please test your Zoom device where you will be “shooting” your motorcycle.  You may have good “wifi” signal in your house but not in the garage or driveway.

In addition, we will also need at least two high-quality photographs of your motorcycle taken from both the left and right sides and one or more of the motor VIN and, if applicable any other applicable numbers (frame, etc.). Extra front, rear and instrument cluster photos would very helpful as well. These photographs will be sent to the marque specialists prior to the actual judging process. This will allow them to be better prepared to ask questions and fill out the judging form during the judging process.

You will also be required to print and complete the AMCA Corrections Form supplied in a follow-up email.  Corrections and rebuttals should be listed by category number.

Please let us know if you are able and willing to participate in the virtual judging process of your motorcycle.  The normal established pre-registration fee of $10.00 will be in effect and you will be given instructions on how to pre-register and where to send the motorcycle photographs.

The motorcycle being judged will be VIN verified and must be shown to start/run in the Zoom session.
