Coming Soon: An Online Membership Directory

Keith Kizer | Published on 9/10/2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the AMCA’s old printed Membership Roster has gone on to the great recycling bin in the sky.

The roster, which had been a staple for members for over 50 years, has outlived its usefulness. And that message became clear in 2020, when we printed 2,500 rosters, then failed to sell most of them.

As of January 1, 2022, the AMCA will instead offer all active members access to a new online Membership Directory that will always contain up-to-date information, so you can find fellow members near you or on the road.

In the months before that takes effect, though, you’ll want to check your online profile to make sure you’re sharing the information you want with other members. To update your options in our online directory, go to the AMCA website at www.antiquemotorcycle.org and click on “Member Login” in the upper right corner  of the page. (Note: If you’ve never set up an online account with the Club, click on “Forgot My Username/Password” and follow the instructions.)

Once you’re logged in, click on your name in the upper right corner and then click on “Profile.” Among the options you’ll see on that page is a link to “Standard Member Directory.” Under the General Info section, select the drop-down list next to Visibility, where you’ll find eight options for the information you share with fellow AMCA members, ranging from nothing to all of your contact info. Choose the option that you’re comfortable with and then—THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT—scroll down to the bottom of the page and click “Save.”

By the way, you can now add a bit more information about yourself on your profile page if you choose, including your birthday, your spouse’s birthday and your anniversary. You can also
upload a profile photo, a banner image of your favorite bike, plus links to where people can find you on social media. If you’re so inclined, you can even add a personal biography. Again, when you have all that just the way you want it, do not forget to click “Save” at the bottom of the page.

These new privacy settings will override any previous opt-in or opt-out features from the past, since those were tied directly to the printed roster. If you don’t update your profile and visibility options, the automatic default will be to share your name, city (but not your street address), state, email and phone, along with any biographical information you choose to share.

Once you make your choices, you’ll be all set for the 2022 online version of the AMCA Membership Directory. And then, instead of lugging around a printed roster, you’ll have access to members right on your smartphone.

As was the case with the printed roster, you’ll be able to use the online directory to find fellow members who live near you. And if you suffer a breakdown on the road, you can use it to reach out to friends in the area who may be able to help. It will also be useful in tracking down contact info for that vendor you met at the last meet who had the part you didn’t know you needed until you got all the way back home.

So don't wait—log in now and update your profile. If you do not have access to a computer or need assistance, contact our AMCA Customer Service Hotline at (855) 398-8688. They will be happy to help.

Oh, and one more thing: If you’re not ready to leave the printed world behind, this is your final opportunity to own the last ever paper-and-ink version of the AMCA Membership Roster, which is sure to become an instant collectors item. Just go to the AMCA website and click on “Features,” then “Merchandise” at the top of the page. Look for the Membership Roster and pick up your piece of history for just $10 while supplies last.
